DREHTAINER

DREHTAINER was founded in 1974 in Hamburg as a company specializing on the repair of containers. Being a classical medium-sized enterprise in private ownership, DREHTAINER has meanwhile found and firmly established its new premises by the state boundary between Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig Holstein next to the BAB 24 motorway. After expanding its site several times in the past years DREHTAINER has now a production area of some 12.000 sqm with a crane lifting capacity of up to 100 tons and is further able to cope with production peaks by means of its extensive network of external suppliers.

Since 1982 DREHTAINER has been concentrating its efforts on the development and manufacture of special containers and vehicles in the fields of defense and nuclear technology as well as on solutions for industrial applications.

In the years from 1999 to 2004 about 3.500 camp containers were manufactured for the Bundeswehr. Since 2005 some additional 2.500 protected modular camp containers have been delivered to support the operations of the German, Australian, Canadian and Dutch forces and the Swiss Army. Protected DREHTAINER solutions are fundamental components in the protection of camps and employed, inter alia, as accommodations, command posts, MP stations, Forward Observation Bases (FOB), watch towers or modular medical facilities. Their unique modular system design allows the containers to be docked to each other to set up small to very large-sized buildings. Their protection level can be tailored to the respective requirements by way of integration and/or adaptation of components. (Tested and certificated IAW STANAG 2280 )

In the medical field DREHTAINER produces special containers for both military and civilian applications. The production program also includes Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) retrofit kits.

The concept study MFD (Modular Flexible Drive) underlines once again DREHTAINER's know how in developing innovative vehicle components. Within this project the four systems docking frame, (dockable) functional container, Zero-Shock® System and protected driver cabin have been developed.

Across its entire range of products, the enterprise has shown its comprehensive know-how in the implementation of protection concepts for both infrastructure and vehicles. Numerous tests performed in Bundeswehr technical centers and comparable institutes of international customers have confirmed the efficiency of DREHTAINER. Moreover, DREHTAINER containers in areas of operation have already more than once saved the lives of the soldiers accommodated or working in them by absorbing the impact of direct missile hits.

Applications in nuclear technology such as lifting equipment, shielding or special containers are designed and produced according to customer requirements and the provisions of the responsible Nuclear-technological Committee. Special transport containers for particularly large-dimensioned goods as well as solutions for applications outside the military sector complete the production spectrum of DREHTAINER.

Every new DREHTAINER development will be tested in the enterprise’s own test center. The test center includes a firing tunnel, a vehicle testing site and a container test bed. This test bed is also used to validate in close cooperation with classification societies and expert organizations the compliance with technical standards of products of different manufacturers.

Throughout the past decades, DREHTAINER with its creative team and its highly motivated construction department has kept proving its ability to satisfy even most demanding customer requests and to find exceptional solutions.
